    The rail companies granted basically nothing. Biden and Congress (don't forget AOC!) broke the strike with raises below inflation and later there was a negotiation to get a milquetoast number of sick days for a bargaining unit that wasn't even trying to strike about them. The ones that were got nothing.

    The capitalist politicians involved constantly lied about it and Americans know nothing about unions but do like team sports, so they rationalized it.

      why privately? probably because: you don’t want to give workers any ideas about strikes actually working you don’t want to look unfriendly to business

    Allegedly the Biden administration pressured rail companies to give the workers an extra sick day and the ability to use their paid time off as sick days. This was never the issue - the issue was the scheduling system that would award demerits for unscheduled sick time, which could lead to termination, a system which is still in place.
