A place I used to work at was doing a website redesign. We had a meeting about what to do about our "team" page because leadership was all white and only had one woman. We went through options like not including pictures, adding women and minorities who weren't in executive positions, or waiting until we hired more people with diverse backgrounds. We paraded women and minorities around the office to take pictures for the website. Eventually they did hire a black woman to an executive position but she was fired within did months (granted she did kind of deserve it). The way a lot of companies use diversity initiatives and rhetoric is extremely cynical.
