I've had a bit of luck finding youtubers/twitch streamers who are content to let some dead air go by if they don't have anything important to say, and definitely don't do any yelling or screaming. It's a real nice change.

Partially I'm just making this post to share the few I've been watching the most:

Jagged Appliance, a Supreme Commander player and caster.

Growling Sidewinder, a DCS pilot who goes into detail about dogfighting and BVR fighter jet tactics.

Tasteless, a Starcraft caster who plays Brood War and chess in the Korean timezone.

Northernlion has thousands of videos and very rarely raises his voice outside of streams. If you just started going through the few thousand Isaac episodes he has at a rate of 4-5 videos a day, you should have enough content to last for years. He is also a pretty witty guy in general so listening to him can be fun. He is a bit of a liberal, but he is much better than the average G*mer in terms of politcs.

I think he secretly has a leftist bent. If you listen to the NLSS in particular, he seems to use all sorts of language that you could consider to be vaguely leftist coded -- stuff that is associated with various bits from "dirtbag left" and adjacent content like "you love to see it, folks", "large adult sons", shitting on WSB, etc.

Oh no I definitely meant broadcaster as in livestreamer, I just happen to like RTS casters by coincidence.

you say "until he has a big project" like he hasn't had the carnival, the thanksgiving dinner, the death stream, the Twitch Plays Jerma stream, the nickelodeon slime stream, the green screen stream, the easy bake stream, so on and so forth

i would say the slime stream, green screen, and easy bake were all pretty high prod. value stuff - they were all in a studio, and one even had a handful of paid actors

I'll add lethalfrag to the list. He's easily my favorite twitch streamer, always very calm, plus during breaks you can watch his cats play.

My favorite gaming variety channel on YT is probably Christopher Odd. Don't be put off that he's focusing on CP2077 right now, he normally has 2-4 series going concurrently, and his XCOM2 playthroughs are really good stuff, he has serious natural talent, and really is super chill.

As other have mentioned, Northernlion, he will be loud from time to time, but I've never really seen him get legit mad. This dude has incredible skill across a whole range of genres from chess, to driving, to roguelike, to sports, soulsborne, etc.

If you like Hearthstone (I actually can't stand playing it but love to watch skilled players' edited video content) check out Trump, I've literally never seen him tilt a single time. I have also branched out to a guy named Dekkster recently who is pretty cool.

If you like Tarkov, Pestily keeps it about as light as it can get. He is also so good it's like he's playing an entirely different game. Edit: How could I forget about Grimmmz?

Most of the Tarkov streamers are alright, DeadlySlob is cool as far as I've seen, Sequisha is fun as well as AquaFPS (from my other post) Honestly I'm kinda iffy about Pestily because of his weird takes on being in the Australian Army but ymmv

I've never heard him talk about it before, did he say some not so good stuff?

He's just pro Australian army, which makes sense what with group dynamics and shit but I mean I'm not terribly impressed seeing those news stories coming out more and more about how many war crimes they committed. I'm super interested to see some inquiries into the conduct of other NATO members as well, I'm sure Afghanistan was basically treated as horrifically as Vietnam was, seemingly anybody was a justified target ect.

I'm just not as convinced as he was that he enlisted for the service of his country, and what that really means

edit: like he has this whole video and apparently he mentions trying out for Spec Ops, so again, ymmv

If you like stoner humor then AvoidingThePuddle is probably the funniest thing on twitch

Been really into AquaFPS lately, he's pretty easygoing, gets kinda shouty when upset, naturally but his usual demeanor is low-key. I don't watch his twitch streams maybe he's worse there but his Youtube is top notch gamer slime. Unfortunately he associates with General Sam a lot who is a lot less wholesome, I would even say he sucks but he is pretty funny in that crude asshole kinda way.

Besides that I'll always shill for Castle Super Beast podcast and the pair who host it, Woolie's channel WoolieVs on youtube and twitch is great so long as you like fighting games and PatStaresAt is basically my inner spirit goblin

Zfg, who speedruns Ocarina of Time. Super calm voice, no facecam, visual setup emphasizes the actual game. Knows the game inside and out, to the point that he can almost bend the game to his will.

If you're into semi narrative based let's plays there's a guy from New Zealand called Rycon Roleplays who makes pretty chill content, plays a lot of Roguelikes/RPGs and stuff. Don't know what his politics are but he doesn't seem like an edgelord or anything, haha.

If youre into dark souls Lobos Jr is great. Very calm for the most part, good at the game, and not really concerned with sensationalizing his content

Oh I definitely remember trying to play CDDA. I spent most of my time putting on different outfits and smoking joints while trying to kill things with a table leg or w/e then dying within the first day
