        Should note I'm pretty sure these are incredibly illegally subdivided but yeah it's a terrible travesty of what happens when private real estate runs amok and the city refuses to fund basic services. Especially since HK has over 100 abandoned villages (the city is only like 30 percent of the territory).

        The smallest legal apartments are like 120 square feet, still way too small especially with multiple people (I lived in a 98 square foot dorm room for a year once, never again. Minimum apartment size for one person should be close to 300 at the smallest), and are found in major Chinese cities like Shanghai in addition to Hong Kong (and these still get illegally subdivided, but not quite as bad I think).
