It's an option for a reason. Either choosing one's pronouns is part of a process of individual self-creation or they're a solemn responsibility to make oneself, and by extension gender dissidents as a whole, palatable and comprehensible to the mainstream. I know which one of those I prefer. "it/its" is edgy, and edginess is a human right.
