bc to them their cultural signifiers that identify them as white europeans (living off of beef) was more important than life.

I can't stop thinking about it while I pack to go watch my family kill themselves & eachother so they can cheer to celebrate the moment they have to switch to new calenders that they'll not use for the rest of the year (the book was Collapse by Jared Dimond)

just go down to the coast & eat a god damned fish, you are starving karen

I only had one history teacher in high school use Gun Germs and Steel and he spent like 10 minutes explicitly explaining that it was entirely due to circumstance and that in many ways the rest of the world was more developed

there are few people on this planet more annoying than leftists post- that one CGP grey video when Jared Dimond gets mentioned. Yes, I know his books aren't historically accurate, that isn't really salient to the point being made

Fuck CC, it just ate my answer when I tapped outside the box.

So you get the short version: grand theories of human history have a pretty noxious past, and academic historians for the most part are very specialized in their fields now and don't really have the broad knowledge base required to generate them anymore.

Someone else might be better equipped to deal with the specifics of historical materialism's lack of acceptance, however.
