honestly? my complaint is that tito didnt go far enough in dismantling the previous political institutions of yugoslavia. these institutions allowed for easy foreign meddling and the EU and US were a large part of why the entire war started. also, the federal model dissolved in roughly the same way as the soviets did, except with more fighting obviously, there is something to be learned about giving individual states too much power (especially the big powerful ones like russia and serbia)

i can somewhat read stuff in those languages due to speaking czech and there was always so much talk about how there really wasnt much racial hatred, just the psycho capitalists that took over serbia formed a squad of brownshirts to do genocide against their own people. like for real the languages arent that different, the racial hatred is psycho and bewildering. there was one talk about two soldiers who were friends being forced to fight against each other, the serb guy was being forced to do so by a bunch of brownshirts and he knew he was shooting at his friend due to his gait. but he was literally being held hostage and just kept missing all the shots he'd take.

Obviously fascist regimes suck, but maybe in the alternate universe where the US was softer and didn't ally with fascists in these cold war 'proxy wars', the Soviet Union imperialized the entire world and never lost their grip on world domination. I think that would be a worse world than our current one.
