Instead of making games that fans are actually asking for, they just pump out shitty games every few years and make pointless spinoffs that nobody cares about. Not only that, but they also put their employees under immense pressure to finish their games in time. Honestly, Pokemon would be way better if it were made under communism.
Those games had version exclusives from the start the fuck are you on about.
Communist Pokemon would be pretty weird because you'd have a lot of disagreements about which Pokemon are cannon and somebody would have to make a wiki about which sets of them are generally considered canon in which games and so forth. Also huge arguments about whether Digimon are Pokemon.
Sounds like a good time.
Go for it! I don't have the time to lead a new project.
Depending on who's expertise you have, I'd look at forking Pokemon Showdown instead of actually romhacking. Involves more common dev skills, has more ability to turn into a separate non-Pokemon thing, but would need some extra hacking and art to add the actual wandering around the world portion back in.
or just use rpgmaker with Essentials and make a fangame, a lot of assets are already done for you
The idea of digimon is better than the idea of pokemon, but the execution was worse and I will die on this hill
except season 3 of the digimon anime is orders of magnitude > all of the pokemon anime
as someone who has recently played a scattershot of gens, gen 1 and 2 are WAY harder than gen 6 and 7, though still easy for an adult obv.
i've played every mainline game up through sun; the difference imo is less in actual difficulty and more in terms of tutorialization
the newer games are a lot more willing to tell you exactly what you should do and where you should go, while the older games figured you were smart enough to not need that (which most kids absolutely were)
You also got access to more type coverage more easily. A Charmander nowadays can be trained until it gets dragon breath in time for Brock. You have fairy moves to deal with dragon now. Steel for rock. Dark for psychic.
yeah that's true too actually
fwiw i think it's a good change since it lets pokemon be a lot more versatile, and since you still only get 4 moves per mon there's an opportunity cost to any set
Yeah I just played Emerald, Crystal, and Sword during quarantine. The latter was by far the easiest (tho still fun I don't get the complete hate).
Check out some of the romhacks if you're looking for a challenge!
Gaia is particularly good, it genuinely feels like an actual pokemon game in quality
I've been meaning to try this one out. Thanks for the reminder!
Here. Uploaded some ROM hacks and translated ROMs relating to Pokemon.

Most of Drayano's hacks add a lot of Pokemon variety and challenge without going to like kaizo levels of difficulty, check them out
uhhh but havent you heard gigantamax is what everyone was asking for!
Pokémon sucks because it is the same as it was back in the 90s and all the most hardcore fans would lose their shit if you changed it enough to make it an actual good game.
They actually changed a ton of mechanical stuff from gen 1 through 4 and made the competitive side way better.
Wasn't Pokemon created because of Capitalism? They were meant to be little Pocket Monsters like from Gacha machines.
Pokemon is partly owned by Nintendo, Gamefreak, and the Pokemon Company. They have no reason to put all their effort into making a good game, they game needs to be good enough to sell well and keeping kids interested in the anime and merchandise.
Also a high-effort Pokemon game is still a game for 7 year olds. The game is not meant for the fans its meant for children
