Whats up ladies, lads, and nonbinary comrades!

Sorry I was a bit late today. Been pretty busy.

I finished my first week strong personally. Its been getting better every day. Week 2 will hopefully continue this trend.

How about you guys? Any major successes? Failures? Funny stories to share?

With everything closed down and my knees hurting from cycling I started running again, and have to say I love it. The other day I went out running in a winter storm and it was amazing! I rarely make more than 5-6k but I manage to maintain consistent high effort through the entire run.

5-6k is still very commendable! Maintaining high effort is whats really important. Keep it up and continue to work hard!!

Scared for c25k w5d3 that I'm doing this week lol. But still optimistic. I've been adding 5 min of extra jogging at the end many days already. Shin splints are holding me back a bit...

Stretching really helps with shin splints in my experience. Just take it easy when you arent running and hopefully they should clear up. Stay strong!!

Don't be afraid to give yourself a bit of a rest from it if the shin splints are giving you grief. Running through injuries is almost never a good idea (and I can tell you because I've done it a million times and fucked myself up).

If you can possibly run on softer surfaces (grass or dirt is best but anything is better than concrete), you may find that helps.

Anyway best of luck with it comrade!

Long story, but ended up getting myself a second-hand rowing machine for christmas to help with a bit of cross training to add volume without injury. Haven't been back to the gym since covid (and I always hated going to the gym anyway), but the rowing machine was the main thing I used, so fuck it now I've got one in my pokey little flat and I can avoid the gym.

With all the running I have very clearly neglected my weedy little chicken arms, which are like absolute jelly right now. And my legs are like jelly as well from a week of running hills. Still, feeling good!

Hope all my other running comrades are feeling good and injury-free too!

Keep rowing ans youll also put yourself on the fast track to having the back and abs of a greek god. Just make sure to use proper form because you can really fuck yourself up using one of those.

Either way, sounds like youre making some solid strides towards improvement. Youre running hills, rowing (simulated) rivers, and getting better at both of them every day! Excellent work!
