I’m slightly disturbed by this. MIDI was the one interface done so well it literally didn’t need to get changed for forty years. At least the update is backwards compatible so old devices will still work.
I think the auto-configuration stuff will be great for industry folks. Not having to manually set up configuration is a huge timesaver. Plus communication between devices could lead to some pretty cool side effects
Damn, so looking into it more, it's an interface agnostic standard so that's fucking cool. You can implement it on anything (usb, ethernet, HDMI if you're weird). That's huge for simplicity.
Yea I dig that. Every time I try to setup my device to a computer there’s a minor headache of doing the settings.
I got my first midi controller for christmas so I can get my yungchomsky on. I guess this means better controllers with more functionality and better/accurate controls as well as making controlling software easier or even automatic?
I'm all about that wireless midi cc. Cables are so unnecessary now. Bluetooth or wifi midi is the future
Is this a big deal, or is this that mythical "capitalist innovation"?
most modern synthesized music is garbage no matter how much detail it has
