I've seen a couple of "zero waste" youtubers do reviews of electric cars and both have mentioned that there are areas local to them where the cost of re-charging electric vehicles is free.

Am I alone in being annoyed at this? I mean, great that cities are subsidizing a more "eco-friendly" alternative to diesel/gas cars, but maybe the better solution is investing in public transport? In one case, the youtuber in question lives in San Antonio and has complained multiple times about how shit the buses are, but apparently the city offers free charging for those rich enough to buy electric vehicles?

Sorry if this isn't the right community for this.

you're absolutely right, but at the same time it seems like it's making people who wouldn't otherwise be attracted to EVs, and setting up charging stations is ridiculously cheap; you just buy one, plug it in to high voltage, and boom maintain it like once a year. also propaganda
