Used to be the same way but I started replaying it with the pandemic and you can ask Krobus to be your roommate now and they are my go to lol
If you're playing on PC a new update just dropped a few days ago with a new farm type and apparently new people too, should be coming soon for other platforms
I just checked his Twitter and it might be a few months away actually, but still exciting-
The 1.5 update will be coming to consoles early next year. It's possible it could be ready by the end of January but I can't guarantee that yet. Mobile has no release estimate yet.

I always like abigail, but that's also the name of my sister's dog, so I always had that hangup.
