I’ve had the immense honour of spending a night drinking with him and a mutual friend in a hotel bar. A kind, intelligent, gentle soul. I don’t usually go in for celebrity stuff, but this is an experience I’ve always cherished. My he rest in peace.

The fact that I got to look him in the eye probably made it all feel way more exceptional than meeting celebrities who’s faces we all know
He died back in October and they kept it under wraps for 2 months. This was disheartening news.
It does suck, but I think it's okay for the relatives of celebrities to hide the news about their deaths until they want people to know about it. If they want to experience their loss without the rest of us chiming in, that's understandable to me.

I think I can say without exaggerating that the man was one of the most influential musicians of the modern day.Interesting fact about DOOM (though I'll preface it by saying I'm not 100% on whether it's true, I read it a while ago):
Daniel Dumile wasn't the original MF DOOM, it was his brother's idea for a rap persona, when his brother passed away Dumile left the rap scene for a while and re-emerged with the iconic mask and the MF DOOM alias
