There are actually people under 65 who just sit down and DO jigsaw puzzles?
Hey fuck you I enjoy puzzles, especially cartography ones
I've never thought about cartography puzzles before but now I wanna buy one
A jigsaw puzzle doesn’t even seem like a puzzle to me. You just pick up pieces and see if they fit. I mean I guess being able to analyze the picture requires some skill but it doesn’t involve complex logic or mechanical thinking.
Hence why I especially enjoy giant cartography ones, because it forces you to learn geography. That said, no they're not based on "complex logic" or "mechanical thinking", but neither are other hobbies like gaming or watching movies. Not everything needs to be a neoliberal pursuit to "better yourself" and "learn new skills".
Idk, my some of friends do them. But they seem tedious to me.
But hey if it floats your boat.
I personally prefer to spend my mornings reading about bean dad discourse on Twitter
Hey buddy, jigsaw puzzles own actually. My wife and I put on music, smoke some weed and work on a jigsaw puzzle.
It's extremely good for my shitty brain and lets me focus on one thing and not look at a screen while still being stimulated.
I find PUZZLES fun.
Jigsaw puzzles always just seemed boring as fuck and pointless to me.
The only setting I think it’d maybe be fun is if I was doing it with friends and we had drinks and snacks and shit. Alone? That just seems weird to me. Also at that point I might as well play DND.
It's a simple task with a clear start and clear finish and you get a minor sense of accomplishment at the end. People like building model sets or knitting, puzzles are roughly on the same level in my mind, it's just a low effort relaxing thing to do and it doesn't involve any screens
At least with model sets you get a cool as airplane or train afterwards!
Once your done a puzzle you just put in back in the box :(
Depending on the size and quality of the puzzle, some people will use puzzle sealing glue and create basically a finished whole that can be hung as wall art, etc.
My wife does them. I don't have the patience or eye for it. Her, some of her family, and some friends just give them to each other once they're done so they don't have to go out and buy new ones all the time. It's kind of nice.
I've been wanting to buy and do a jigsaw puzzle for months now lmao. I can't stare into space when I listen to audiobooks, and sometimes I get tired of crocheting or simple video games. I don't have any space for it, which is the main thing holding me back :(
