Lobste.rs uses invitation trees, which is something that chacha admins can look into. It helps to trace sock accounts and ban them in bulk. It doesn't quite fit with how registration works currently, but one way for new accounts to be merged into an invitation tree is by requiring admin approval after registration and suspending registrations during raids.
