The entire American Progress organization is thrilled to welcome Stacey Abrams to the Center for American Progress’ board of directors. Throughout her career, Stacey Abrams has been a trailblazer. This year, as the first African American woman to be a major party’s nominee for governor, she inspired record turnout at the polls in Georgia and energized and galvanized progressives across the country. Throughout her career, she has worked on issues ranging from education to economic growth to voting rights. As a member of our board of directors, Stacey will help steer CAP as we work to achieve our mission of improving the lives of all Americans
I can't really remember the other reasons, but I do remember a pretty firm consensus that she is a "fauxgressive".
I think a lot of it may have been from
her affiliation with the sanders campaign, andher apparent history of political maneuvering as fairly a typical "career politician."People were angry with bernie for bringing in opportunists, consultants, and managers who weren't ideologically committed, and her high-profile association with CAP is an indicator that she was probably a wrecker or something along those linesYeah you're right, I could have sworn he hired her as a consultant during the campaign, but it looks like he just endorsed her for governor, which she leveraged to appear as a "progressive" rather than the neolib she actually is, raise a bunch of money from grassroots off it, and stand up for bloomberg in the primary, in addition to running off to CAP.
Sold out to bourgeois institutions and took a bunch of money from them.
