For real, this is libshit that can be dismantled on its own merits. Natalie was ALWAYS like this. Insinuating that she developed libby or reactionary views after surgery is shitty.

Edit: I’ve read @kristina’s explanation elsewhere in the comments and while I completely agree that the material conditions of Natalie’s life and and transition have blinded her to the realities of transitioning for a majority of trans people, I find that the casual framing of the title reads like it’s delegitimizing Natalie’s identity - rather than her ideology - because she hasn’t fought in the trans trenches, and that’s where my concern came from.

Edit2: /u/kristina changed the title, it’s good now.

Valid criticism. 👆 Especially since we had trouble with transphobia lately.

Besides (often trans) 'woke' people criticizing trans people for things mostly unrelated to being trans the only other person you see bringing up gender-affirming plastic surgery like this is Nick Mullen.

I think kristina is trying to invoke the idea of "fuck you, I got mine".

I understand it, its something people say a lot about transwomen on the internet, and I'm not saying its not a worthwhile thing to ever talk about, but it is a strange and uncomfortable thing to shoehorn into this critique which has nothing to do with how feminine contra is now or with transness at all

The way I see it it's basically the same as talking about "rich white gays" like Buttigieg. Contrasting the fact that they belong to a traditionally oppressed minority with the fact that they themselves aren't oppressed and therefore become traitors to their peers and further right than the average member of that minority.

Okay. I would also not have liked to see criticisms of Buttigeig's lib positions attributed to him being gay, or even constantly reference him being gay. I probably woulda said some shit like "what does fixing bread prices have to do with being gay"

its more that he made his entire campaign about him being a gay guy and whenever he was around other LGBT people he treated them like shit. for example he would regularly cancel meetups at venues that were 'too sexual' or would dodge questions on trans healthcare. its a combination of holding certain views and being gay that makes him detestable to other lgbt people.

Well you said the words 'material conditions' and 'intersectionality' and called all of your detractors cis so I guess you must be right and my immediate visceral reaction to your title is invalid. You have debated me into a corner, facts truely do not care about my feelings

No, see, because she makes a YouTube which is popular to finance surgery. And that's... uh... bad?

IDK. I guess people are still upset because Natalie used the V-word in her last video.

It's just another edition of "We Live In A Society".

People with the highest profiles enjoy the highest incomes. So we need to do what exactly? Discourage people from earning money via social media? Impose mandatory waiting periods on trans-surgery, so everyone can suffer equally? Arbitrarily shame people for doing the thing that everyone else in the community is trying to achieve?

All because a Transwoman is dunking on the d-tier punditry of a prior decade on Twitter?

          Wtf?

This is the same toxic reactionary attitude I see in the red-pilled corners of Reddit. It's Michelle Malkin levels of discourse. Just finding any fucking thing to villainize. Why not creep outside Natalie's window and complain about her countertops while you're at it?

youre mischaracterizing what i said. ideal society, yes, we all get surgeries and thatd be more than awesome. our society right now, there is a multimillionaire scolding poor trans people and supporting their oppressors and she is unable to understand why she is wrong because she hasnt had to deal with the discrimination most trans people receive.

also, dont say transwoman its trans woman. trans is an adjective.

This is a twitter pundit commenting on the contradictions of corporate media criticism as an outsider looking in. Even with a superficial class analysis, Natalie fails to rank beside your Chuck Todds or Joe Rogans.

she is unable to understand why she is wrong

You're in the same damned boat. So busy trying to take pot shots at someone with a higher profile that you've missed the criticism entirely.
