Whenever I see some dipshit unironically use the term "fascist" or "red fascist" to describe communist governments, I instantly mentally take all of their opinions and chuck them straight in the garbage

Not defending authoritarianism but most American's understanding of authoritarianism is like that scene from the first Spongebob movie where Plankton enslaved all of the Bikini Bottom and everyone was mindless drones

Pure idealism to think you can be against all real attempts at socialism while supporting liberalism but think you're a socialist because of the ideas in your head. 'Leftists' like this seem to place real importance on half formed notions floating around their mind about 'eating the rich' without realising none of these matter while you refuse to challenge your preconceptions about the rest of the world and question whether propaganda has influenced you. If you don't do that, then no matter how many great ideas you've got, capitalists can turn you against every project built on similar ideas, and they count for nothing. Arguably very individualistic too, it's not dissimilar to conservatives who think they're Ayn Rand heroes who could personally challenge large systems

Reminds me of a twitter chain I came across a couple of days ago whilst reading something about the PRC, which I sadly(?) forgot to bookmark.

Basically, it enthusiastically argued that Communists should throw their support behind the HK riots and western interventionism (and even war) against the PRC—because they are not real Communists—apparently for the sake of safeguarding Communism's reputation.

No, the person in question was not a trot, just some y*nk.
