Trump was never a dictator, and he only channeled chud rage & relished the opportunity to do so.... outside of the judiciary, appointments largely planned before Trump ever showed up, Trump and his boomer minions got very little done

this wasn't a coup attempt... it was a bunch of Twacked out Gen Xers and boomers on holiday. And to expect much more other than a howling failure from MAGA dopes is really reaching. America can be a hyperracialized neo-fascist police state with or without Trump

to create a boogieman where one never really existed is all libs know

Still not sure why protestors getting killed in the capitol means it was a coup attempt lol. Whether some idiots in the crowd coordinated on apps beforehand to try and get into Nancy Pelosi's office is far different than the entire operation being intended to make demands or take hostages or upset the transfer of power in any real/coercive way. They didn't accomplish that, and wouldn't have

The Bolivian coup is different because there was blatant foreign/imperial meddling & jailing/exile of adversaries... so imo the comparison you made there was in bad faith

So basically if voters believe their guy won and the Deep State reptile synthetics cheated them, they can say they are preventing Biden from doing a coup lol

Whether something is a coup or a failed coup completely depends on legitimacy and whether one can be passed off as the other.

You're trying to pass a failed non-coup attempt off as a failed coup attempt... and that's not really what evidence reveals

but I guess if we lend most credence to what social media and MSM say, Trump's dastardly deeds may have carried us all straight into the pits of damnation if it weren't for Twitter bans and Mike Pence usurping Presidential authority

Amy Schumer was arrested in the Capitol in 2018 during protests over the Kavanaugh confirmation

check out this video.... the MAGAs weren't "let in" at every entrance,

                  https://twitter.com/i/status/1347610932910952448

and I think it was a dicey situation overall, but to give the boomers & deadbeat MAGA dads the benefit of the doubt that they were definitely in sight of some "goal" is steel-manning their "movement" beyond recognition

Everyone here is mimicking the “nothing means anything nothing will ever happen” blackpilled bullshit the pod hosts have been spewing since Bernie lost or they switched drugs or whatever.

But there wasn't. That's the point. Everyone is getting worked up at what could have happened instead of focusing on what did and is happening.

Your comparison sucks. Bernie was not a figure that had any institutional power (outside of his senate seat) nor was there any particular event around which an incident like this could have occured. Not would Bernie of all people be the one to lead such a fight, as that doesn't fit his historical temperament.

Does this group of right wing protestors have a financial advantage over the left? Of course they do. They are literally the petite bougious that trumps caters to. However, they are not more organized than the left, at least not this particular group. What they benefited from is some form of relationship with the DC police that is unclear, but enough to allow a total security failure around the Capitol. They don't have access to the secret service, they don't have access to the actual police state apparatus. What they do have is a years long developed social media presences (QAnon mileau), but that does not imply actual cadre organization or long term goals or planning.

Is the storming of the Capitol a big deal? Yes. Yet, much like 9/11, it is a big deal not because of the event in-of-itself, but because of the reaction the state is going to have towards it, which will have rippling effects that we are going to feel years from now.

Look, I don't want to go all 'debate-bro' but calling people childish and dooming doesn't help anybody here.

Absolutely. Right wingers with confederate flags trying to storm the capitol building, and instead of stopping them, the capitol police takes selfies with them and invites them in. Of course, police siding against protestors is shit,l as seen with BLM the last years, but not defending government institutions is a sign of something else
