On one hand, "read theory" is silly when what matters is engagement with the material and not just reading it; there's plenty of people who get bored of Capital and then supplement it with some Harvey garbage or whatever, along with the assorted complaints about attention span. Someone can read something 20 times and not understand it.

On the other hand, it would also be nice if people would stop saying Marx said things he didn't, and, to be fair, the decline in attention span is not a one-sided, individual issue.

I have never experienced a conscious knowledge of my lacking in some manner without immediately feeling embarrassed, inferior, and wanting to subsequently change it, so I don't understand why there are so many who claim to have a passion for communism yet don't desire to know as much as they can about it.

But the important thing is I can feel superior to both!
