Chapter leadership is always tricky, in some cases it probably based on caucus affiliation of active members and the networks they build within the chapter, in others its probably based on working groups themselves and how active people are in them. Helping build caucus presence in your chapter can go a long way to influencing internal politics. Emerge in NYC has been doing a good job building coalitions and pushing against some ideologies, being part of it has given me a lot more understanding of how these internal org structures really work.
I'm looking to also organize a reading of On Practice/ On Contradiction with my chapter. So far in my fairly short expirience with them the most active members seem pretty based
