    I thought that the ‘Dem’ in DemSoc referred to the means of achieving socialism, rather than the form of government in a post-transition society

    Could be wrong but I’m almost certain the exact opposite of this is true

        Every definition I’ve ever heard just calls it a socialist economy alongside a democratic political system, I agree it makes the term kinda redundant but I haven’t found any other definition

        Maybe it specifically means multi-party democracy? As opposed to the systems of China, Cuba, etc where you do get to vote for candidates, but almost all of them are with the Communist Party
