a week or two ago I tried searching first person of colour in space and was drip fed pages of articles about the first black woman shot into heaven by NASA.

I understand it's probably the language I was using for search terms but it demonstrates how broken search engines are now.

Not even Google, for all its faults, gets this one wrong.

I am but a humble slop poster. When I see slop in the wild I think of my piggies.

I just checked it myself and first result, the one integrated in the search engine form Wikipedia mentions Yuri gargain first after a long unnecessary explanation about what Spaceflight is

it's not there anymore. Definitely just a shitty suggestion IMO, no malice necessary

now the suggstion I got is just the opening paragraph of this

Also just checked and after a long winded explanation it says Yuri gargain was first, without mentioning the moon. Just check it for yourself

On a related note, if you play Starfield you see it too there. While there is a planet and city named Gagarin in Alpha Centauri, all you can read ingame is just nebulous mentions of the "space pioneers" and the only one actually named in context is Neil Armstrong and there is NASA memorabilia everywhere.

About OP, this time google do deliver better:

Impressive. Very nice. Let's see what it says about spacewalk, observation of dark side of the moon, Venus exploration
