Protaxites could grow 1 metre thick and up to 8.8 metres tall, I miss our big thick mushrooms

    I wonder what stopped fungus from evolving that way again. Weather maybe?

      Vascular plants can probably outcompete it. And the Carboniferous, where wood didn't decompose yet and piled up miles deep probably wasn't super fun for species of Fungi evolved to eat rotting moss.
