Protaxites could grow 1 metre thick and up to 8.8 metres tall, I miss our big thick mushrooms
You will never see a giant mushrooom in your lifetime :angry-hex:
before you think they were skyscrapers, they were like 10 feet tall.
The consequences of the development of vascular plants has been a disaster for the fungal race.
Eons does a great episode on protaxies which I HIGHLY recommend and will easily be better than any of the garbage content on tv

Thanks for the link, that was very interesting. Most shows have a lot of fluff and not much content but this was very information dense which is a nice change. I'll be watching some more of these videos for sure since I love nature shit.
Oh right on! I'm glad you liked it. Most people I know IRL think it's lame so it's nice to hear someone appreciated it ☺️
I wonder what stopped fungus from evolving that way again. Weather maybe?
Vascular plants can probably outcompete it. And the Carboniferous, where wood didn't decompose yet and piled up miles deep probably wasn't super fun for species of Fungi evolved to eat rotting moss.
