this used to tank my mental health so bad, just constantly feeling guilty cause im not working and achieving shit like my peers, but then i realized that it's all bullshit and you can just enjoy your life instead

dont get me wrong, self-improvement is important, but hustle culture is toxic as fuck and makes people feel like shit about themselves. some people dont give a shit about careers and ambitions and just want to vibe

I work as a code monkey and make decent enough money. When I first told my father in law about my job, he kept saying that I really should get a degree and try to climb the ranks. I kept telling him that I don't care about that and that I'm happy with what I have, but he just couldn't comprehend that.

How does a person get a coding job without a degree? I’m genuinely curious because I love coding but I’m not good enough at math to actually earn a degree in CS.

Most coders don't have a degree, you just learn to do it by practicing on your own for a few years (decades).

I did an apprenticeship instead and most places I've worked at so far actually preferred that over a degree.

I'm in Germany though, so that's probably not all too relevant for you.

That’s dope that’s an option there! I had German in high school and it talked a bit about the different types of high school there and some had apprenticeships. Thanks for the reply!
