Could you edit the title to be descriptive instead of using the video's title?

Not a fan of making a portmanteau out of the n word.

(Yeah I read the discussion. Editing the title seems like the right level of compromise over, like, me deleting it, or leaving it there to give edgelords ideas. I'd rather see people talking about the video instead of its title.)

No problem. I'd suggest just "Black masculinity and the white supremacist politic of incel mythology". It's a good choice of title on your part. Just doesn't get rid of the thing that people were complaining about.

Yeah I thought appending an editorialised bit would help assuage that, but i feel uncomfortable renaming it altogether? Like it's his (foreign's) working title, and id rather yield to his expertise on the matter?

It's not memeing or taking unnecessary jabs at folks, it my just make whitey uncomfortable.

Okay. I'll come bother you if it gets more reports though.

For a video about recognizing the ways in which unrealistic or misinformed cultural ideas of attractiveness and masculinity are a huge component in the rise of the incel, black and otherwise, this presenter sure likes to hammer that balding is unattractive. He says "it's fine to be bald" like one time but all of the context clues and intended humor suggest that he is entirely aware that this is widely viewed negatively in the domain of attractiveness and is using it in the demeaning sense. And then just does the same intended-to-demean joke like three times. Big dicks, giga chads, bald shaming, these are all things I see embraced in left spaces which then hand wring about the negative and toxic forms of masculinity and the ways in which they are reified in culture. I am not singling out this mostly decent and well-intended video as the sole or worst offender, but just another example of doing the thing you say you are against.

Residual trauma from other internet spaces being overrun by edge lords… it’s hard to tell what’s in the video if you just look at the title and the thumbnail, and normalizing the bypassing of the slur filter might have unintended consequences especially now after federation. We don’t want a bunch of little hitlerjugend slithering around. But then again, I am not black. I guess we just have to trust each other enough to self-police. This will probably ignite a struggle session sadness

Fuck fascists for ruining shit even in abstentia

You are 100% being reasonable and correct.

Really what we need to control is knee-jerk tone policing by explicitly prohibiting it in the code of conduct. We can probably trust the community enough to filter out reactionary content through reports. It’s more work for everyone but worth it if we get the benefit of more black voices.

It's been 0 days since hexbear has made Othello uncomfortable about race-related issues yea

I really hate that this keeps happening and something needs to be done to address this. Sure, you're still around, but I wonder how many black hexbears have left the site in the past because of similar issues. I hate how white hexbear is, not because of weird self-deprecating reasons but because imo it shows a clear failure of inclusivity.

This is just a thought, feel free to tell me it's a dumbass idea, but what if we had an emoji specifically for POC hexbears to use in race-related discussions, kind of as a way to say "my voice matters more in this matter than that of white folks"? Maybe this could help avoid some conflict and remind white hexbears to shut up and let people of color speak.

The word is fine. It’s just funny seeing it appended to incel especially since the word has devolved to a meme that describe people who like certain things

Finally got around to watching this, I just wanna comment on my pet theory about trans maxxing (which he mentioned at the end of the video). I think some trans commie just went into incel spaces to mindfuck them, unironically

There's been a number of force femme groups, discords etc, not to mention the manipulative exploitation of those who find themselves within such spaces.

Plus, porn. It's a distillation of all of these things, racialised gender dynamics, cuckoldry, sissy hypno, it all feels wildly gross tbh.

Id think a trans commie would be better served helping their trans comrades than genderfucking some incels

Yeah it's definitely toxic and fetishistic it's bad that it is often conflated with the trans experience as a whole. But I still think it's funny in some ways tbh lmao, it's so wildly out of left field

Oh sure it's kinda funny if you don't think about it lol. I guess when you're a bunch of self identified incels feeding into the negativity nexus, it's relatively easier to convince/be convinced yourself to become the vaunted Stacey than it is to bring about retribution against them or whateverthefuck. Idk lonely boys gonna lonely but force femmeing/transmaxxing won't fix that. These people don't love themselves lol

Here's a vid on 4chans femboy blackmail cult

more to the point, 'transmaxxing' does nothing to distance these people from incel spaces and thought, if anything it reifies those positions and relationships

I also feel like outside the 'femininity is shameful, submissiveness is shameful' aspect of it, I lowkey think a lot of it is the subversion of anxiety around costs and societal hatred. After all, you didnt choose this, it was foisted, it is readily available, you're a victim so nobody in society can blame you. You didn't have to grapple with your brain, trying to find doctors to fix things, trying to fork up the tens of thousands of dollars to actually get shit done, or anything, that was done for you. So in a way it is a fantasy of avoiding transition anxieties.

Its also unhinged but thats what makes it funny

ooh I think you're onto something there, it's like an extension of the button thought experiment for eggs.

Look I'm all for encouraging consideration of one's gender, expression, wants and needs, but thinking that it alone is the solution to the incels woes is uh lacking at best. These boys gotta grow up and develop inter/personal relationships if they're ever gonna escape the brainworms they've found themselves with.
