is the other way around okay? like responding to the people condemning cultures that eat dog meat, by questioning how it's any worse than eating pig or cow meat
How is "Don't judge another culture. You do the same thing." a dog whistle?
I agree when a vegan brings up the other culture it is a microagression but it is usually the omni bringing it up. Vegan leftists are not the ones crying about Yulan festival every year it's CIA plants and omni rubes. Pointing out that westerners don't eat dogs generally and that those same reasons also apply to other animals if you want to be morally consistant is not a dog whistle. Using the word savage is but no leftest vegan would use that word unironically.
That is fair. I feel the arguments for veganism are universal but I also feel it is for vegans to change thier own cultures not dictate what other cultures do. BIPOC vegans are prefectly capable of changing their own cultures and making thier own arguments.
If that was the argument it would be but the argument isn't don't be like that culture it is apply this peice of our culture that is good to all animals to make our culture better.
You are right. The argument is they wouldn't eat a dog so why eat a cow which is not physiologically that different to a dog in terms of being able to suffer. That can be made without bringing up other cultures and bringing it up was unwarrented in that post's title.
I agree the amount of arguements on the benefits of reducing one's use of animal products are many, no need to use problematic phrasing and using non white culture as a cudgel.
Granted animal rights people shouldn't be referring to indigenous people. And granted I can see what you're saying about the previous post. That said, most people who are angered by eating dogs are lib omnivores, which is what that post was referencing.
