Pet peeve (lol puns amirite) but I really fucking hate it when people talk about being their dog's mum or dad, there's something really fucking creepy about it. Not least because of the uncomfortable truth that having a dog generally involves taking them away from their actual mum and dad, I guess, and then calling yourself their dad seems like pretty fucking callous salt in the wound. I mean being their "owner" is pretty bad too, but at least there's an honesty to it maybe? I tend to talk about their "person" but maybe I'm just overthinking it all, it just makes me irrationally pissed off whenever I hear it
