I have no clue what to call it outside of a scientific context lol. im a toof doctor and we read peer reviewed articles that have scientific backing that strive to prove theories and talk about experiments in the field. is there a place I can read the equivalent of that in terms of left wing topics on history, economics, social issues, etc? thanks everybody. I know I can always go through the books to find what I need on topics but sometimes I wish I had specific, up-to-date articles that go in depth on specific topics.
Here's some, okay to great, English language Academic journals which cover a left-wing perspective on those topics
- Alternative Routes: A Journal of Critical Social Research
- Antipode: A Radical Journal of Geography
- Capital & Class
- Critique: Journal of Socialist Theory
- Historical Materialism: Research in Critical Marxist Theory
- International Critical Thought
- International Socialism: A Quarterly Journal of Socialist Theory
- Marxist Left Review
- Monthly Review
- New Left Review
- New Political Economy
- New Proposals: Journal of Marxism and Interdisciplinary Inquiry
- Research in Political Economy
- Rethinking Marxism
- Review of Capital as Power
- Science & Society
- Studies in Political Economy
- World Review of Political Economy
The Monthly Review has been around a long time, and I find it to be worthwhile. Each edition is fairly short (around 6 articles), and a lot drier than something like Jacobin.
Edit: what I like most about it is that it's a lot more serious than the fun but fairly ungrounded conversations that happen here or on Twitter.
