Debating communism with liberals is the easiest thing in the world. You know that feeling where you wish you had a script to follow in social situations? Well with this you basically do.
That’s because it’s the exact same debate every single time. The same gotchas, the same cliches, the same tropes and there is nothing new under the sun. It’s like you’re fed the arguments beforehand.
Now with some other topics you might sometimes encounter angles you haven’t considered or arguments you didn’t anticipate and have to come up with counterarguments on the spot, but with communism it’s basically Groundhog Day where you know everything in advance and know exactly what you need to do to reach the desired conclusion.
It’s just variations of “but have you considered George Orwell 1984?” and they act like they’re the first person to ever bring it up.
My favorite part is when they use their epic own trump card and it’s just the same sad heap of bullshit from the last thousand times.
They get really mad when you interrupt their cliche halfway through because you've heard it before
finish their dumb idea for a three point dunk
They get really mad just at being contradicted by someone to the left of them.
"I'm as left as they come but"
Love to argue with them, then they start up, you interrupt to say exactly what they're gonna say, then counter it and they just seethe with no response and try to change the subject.
I like when they insist that wasn't what they were going to say so you let them finish and it absolutely was what they were going to say
