Bernie was the only real thing at that inauguration, and people were grasping at some kind of real human moment after watching that hideous marionette show, made even worse by all the fawning news anchors just clearly lying through their teeth at how emotional it was.
Trying to "beat" the Bernie meme with further mythologization of the good ruling class is such a transparent attempt to get the zeitgeist back on track, it's fucking nauseating.
Also, the mittens are not only dope, but they're mittens. They're not some $10,000 suit that only some PMC honchos can afford; they're just some really cool mittens, something everyone can (and should) aspire to having.
Mittens are both cute as objects and phonetically, might actually be one of the cutest words to say out loud. However there is a reason we don't have a thumb and giant flesh paddle for hands.
