The Desolution of Yugoslavia

"socialism is when IMF loan"

The history of Yugoslavia since 1945 embraces a period of rapid economic, political, and social modernization reflected in urban and industrial growth, improvements in literacy and economic well-being, changes in the traditional patriarchal family structure, moderation of ethnic hostilities, and integration into the international economy.

However, in dialectical fashion, it also embraces a period of economic decline and intense ethnic reaction. In a very real sense, the route to the collapse of the Yugoslav federation, like the collapse of the Soviet federation, was paved by the policy toward nationalities that each had pursued, but it was precipitated by involvement in the global economy.

I actually don’t know what any of them do because I’m not messaging them back. But it’s literally just “I’m on my grind” or “I’m my own boss” stuff but there’s never any explanation on what they actually are doing? Or I’m just not paying attention because I’m literally just sitting on my couch during Quarantine and doing Bob Ross paintings and I don’t feel anything in common with that.

I’m honestly not doing too well with this lol.

This isn’t a dumb pitch, more an evil one, and from someone I had noooo romantic interaction with. This was an old client when I did freelance writing who actually managed to run an MLM that particularly preyed on disabled folks who need home health care services. And actually was pretty good at hiding what he was doing, enough to fool me and get a cushy state contract that I think was starting to go sour. I don’t really understand the specifics, but he was a huge misogynist who treated me like a dumbass and once it clicked, I drew a pyramid with three levels during one of our meetings and said “oh so your model looks like this?” And he was like “yeah 😃”

Yeah I was helping him with advertising material and he wanted to advertise for home health care workers to work for him (these would be folks that were relatives or spouses who have to take care of their loved ones and receive some benefits from it), because the state only paid so much, and he claimed he paid $15 an hour. He wanted to advertise this. And then he started to get uncomfortable with this, and after months finally explained that they only get paid that much once they recruit someone to “care for” and “be cared for” under them. It was bizarre. And this had to happen a few times before he was even able to get them $15 an hour, which they capped out at. It’s honestly a pretty gross story and he’s a really gross dude.

Sorry I’m high and you got me on a memory now lol

My only good memory of him, because he was also an abusive client and I was fresh out of college so I ran into quite a few, was that he tried to collect money from me later after terminating the contract for labor I already gave. To the point where he mentioned taking me to court and CC’d some other people too. And I was able to write one of those professional-bitchy emails back to him letting him know I wouldn’t be pursuing him in court for unpaid labor. He didn’t respond but I saw him at the grocery store a few weeks after and this asshole ran away from me. Like turned his cart around and ran.

Now I am a children’s librarian and I will never do that shit again lol
