You could liken the political system of the star wars universe to any "corrupt" regime's political system: from roman empire to middle eastern autocracies. Stop calling everything you don't like neoliberal. The fuck did the galactic republic do, stop ewoks from nationalizing their booby trap industry and make them adhere to free market principles?

Stop using political ideologies as value judgement, even if those said ideologies suck ass

I don't think you need to analyze star wars economic lore to call it neoliberal. The prequels were intended as a critique of bush era America with some added roman republic influences.

sure, but I don't see the neoliberal side of it

there was a lot about manufactured conflicts and the expansion of executive power in response to perceived security threats, but I don't recall anything in star wars about austerity and privatization

when libs are getting mad enough about people meming succdem man that they are posting "nono don't look over there, here's Mrs Obama shopped with pop culture you like" the op is a pretty good dunk and I'm not gonna question it with "um actually the starwars film cannon didn't explicitly show a neoliberal policy passing in the senate, just all of the material conditions of neoliberalism being present"

I like everything about the post except for the word neoliberal

it's not worth dunking on, but it does bug me enough to whine a little about it on here at least
