recommendations to increase the minimum wage

Does that mean that not even this is gonna be really binding but just a recommendation?

<\s> well we can't just go about doing things without following evidence based recommendations first or we'll be wasting taxpayer money on the wrong people <\s>

I think we should give McKinsey et al a few billions to do some studies to really dig into this and come up with the best solution.

This is just an executive order though so I wouldn’t panic yet. I’m not an expert, but the president doesn’t have the power to make that kind of change (15 minimum wage across the board), outside of the executive branch agencies, which is what he is doing now through the order.

Congress is the one who needs to pass a bill including the minimum wage across the board. Biden released a proposal including the mimimum wage increase - he was basically asking congress to do that. We’ll see if they actually do or if they negotiate themselves out of it.

When I worked on a commissary in a military base about 8 years ago I made $13.50.

He could just sign an executive order to raise them for all federal employees like Obama did but even that would be too far. Fucking pathetic.

coming here to say it's a decent start and easy (doesn't it have to go thru congress for tge rest of us?)
