Maybe it’s because this site skews ML but the Zapatistas are critically underappreciated. They’re my go to example for Socialism working in the real world (I’m a lib soc though) when talking to normal people.
They’re fairly unknown so if you mention them to the average person who doesn’t have an automatic negative bias toward them like the USSR or China.
They’re still expanding 25 years later and have have autonomy in their territories.

Still expanding? Last I heard the Zapatistas have essentially been in a long-standing stalemate with some retreats from previously held territory.
