I don't know about this specifically, but China's typically taken a neutral route when it comes to international affairs. And that's for better or worse I guess. They haven't really funded external communist groups nor have they embroiled themselves within proxy wars. Last time I think they did that was the Korean War?
And that's fair to criticize but China's pretty consistent on how it tries to achieve very neutral terms internationally. China even trades weapons with Israel, which sucks.

They don't summarize it, they cherrypick it and twist the shit out of it to the point of sometimes giving an impression that is sometimes the diametrically opposite of what he was actually saying. The most famous example of this was when they twisted the shit out of when Putin said the collapse of the USSR was a great catastrophe, completely omitting what he said afterwards and making it look like he wanted to recreate the USSR (which would be based actually but unfortunately that's not what he meant) when in reality he was only saying it because it left large numbers of Russian diaspora in former Soviet republics.
