Stop posting fash Twitter, Jesus fucking Christ.

    Quote context: https://hexbear.net/post/76262/comment/812444

The American Rescue Plan also addresses the growing housing crisis in America. Approximately 14 million Americans — 14 million — have fallen behind on rent, and many risk eviction. If we fail to act, there’ll be a wave of evictions and foreclosures in the coming months as this pandemic rages on, because there’s nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months. So, look, this would overwhelm emergency shelters and increase COVID-19 infections as people have nowhere to go and are socially — can’t socially distance.

I have no idea if this American Rescue Plan thing is good bad or ugly, but that's irrelevant to the point here. The obvious fact is that old man Joe wasn't saying "can't do shit for months" but rather was saying exactly why they need to do something now.

Disclose.tv is a fash/chud conspiracy site. They're not your friend and they will seek to mislead you.

Why OP chooses to not recognize that, I cannot explain.

Even tho it's a questionable source, it is still true that Biden's statement about how "there's nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic" contradicts his earlier statement about Biden "has a plan to get this virus under control." The added context doesn't change that.

Statement A: I got a plan to get the virus under control.

Statement B: Context context context.... there's nothing we can do about the trajectory of the virus (in other words I have a plan, but it doesn't actually get the virus under control, altho it may do other things).... context context context.

Biden’s statement about how “there’s nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic”

Over the next few months. Key words.

So he's saying the trajectory over the next few months is a result of decisions already made, and we need to act now to react to that, to what's coming.

That is not mutually exclusive to having a longer term plan to get the virus under control. Which is what everybody's pretending this quote means, when it plainly doesn't.

And it should interest people that this quote keeps getting posted here from right wing sources who we should never be taking at face value or presuming good faith from.

If we're not careful about weeding this kind of shit out, then one day we're going find people unironically posting like Dave Rubin clips here just because he accidentally stumbled ass backwards into a correct critique of Biden.

We did a better job of dealing with this on the subreddit and need to get back to that. Not perfect by any means but better.

He didn't explicitly say that, but guess you could assume that, which is a fair point.

Although the reality is that we actually can do something to get the virus under control in the next few months. But that's not something Biden will do imo.

It's kind of like when he said during the BLM protests that he wanted to give more money to the police. When he was criticized for that, libs would say "oh but that's not what he meant, he meant xyz" (even a friend of mine told me that when I brought it up). But the truth was simple, he wanted to give more money to the police, even when the "context" was added.

The same is true of so many other Bidenisms. Even when the context is added, it doesn't help his case (e.g. the "you ain't black" comment).

I'm not assuming anything, this is exactly what was said when you consider this quote within the context of the sentence that it is a part of.

Which is an assumption. Based on context, but like I said he never explicitly said that.

It's not clear that he meant "trajectory over the next few months is a result of decisions already made". It's not clear at all. Maybe that's your interpretation, but let's not pretend like it's some objective look into Biden's mind and intentions, even when the context is added.

Listen, I'm not trying to debatebro you here.

What is clear is that he's proposing and advocating action to address an effect of the pandemic.

What is also clear is that the quote is being presented in a manner that suggests that Biden is doing absolutely nothing.

So what we have is a disparity between the presentation and the truth. Also known a a lie. And it's coming from a God awful chud/qanon site.

If those circumstances aren't a problem for you then you're just doing the right wing's work for them.
