ITT: Making fun of rich cis gentrifiers is transphobia and not a good look chief, have several seats yall.

Making fun of cis women is transphobia, making fun of Megan McCain is antisemitic, we're all just playing calvinball to scold people at this point holy shit.

That Koch kid with the ugly shirts is an acceptable target, Hunter Biden is an acceptable target, making fun of Barron for years under the guise of "well actually we're just concerned for him we didn't say he's bad" is acceptable, Ella Emhoff is off limits and you're doing a heckin no growth if you mention her. She's an unremarkable rich kid hipster who got a modeling job because mom became VP so the modeling agency can have access to the administration. That is literally the thing everyone accuses Hunter of doing in Ukraine.

Chapo hosts: rich bushwick gentrifiers who are out of touch scum, beat them up if you see them

Ella Emhoff: Smol uwu bean whomst we must protecc pls do not google her net worth (a lot) or parents (second most powerful couple alive) or current place of residence (bushwick)

also like i dont think those defending ella are saying THIS exactly: but this whole "small white rich 21 year old is a CHILD" thing is kinda grating given a 9 year old girl of color got cuffed in rochester and pepper sprayed by cops like that "theyre a kid" excuse only goes one way

Well its getting brought up because she got a 200k contract to design clothes 9 days after her step mom was elected VP.

This is a very good and legitimate point that is nowhere to be found in the OP.

Edit: nor anywhere else in this thread.

With those colors, I can see her saying trans rights but being quiet when you bring up how Kamala had a trans woman in a men's prison and denied her gender-affirming medical care.

Granny squares are dope, it's super easy to make and you just get like.. an ever expanding square. Good for rugs, blankets, coats and sweaters, etc

I'm not sure whether I love or hate her fashion choices, but it is a thing that exists. That top is pretty dope though.

i understand that dunking on this person who cant choose their step parent is kinda a cheap shot (i still think its funny but fine)

i understand that using this person's status as a gentrifier to judge them can be hypocritical when a lot of people on this sub themselves cant pass that purity test

But gentrification and gentrifying itself are acts of harm privileged people place on poor communities. its not exactly the worst thing and can possibly veer into "so you own an iphone, interesting" territory (usually when ur only looking at a rich person's POV) but it is possible for people with means to be more aware of where they choose to live and how, if they are gentrifying a place, they can lessen their personal impact on the neighborhood. Regardless, gentrifying is often discussed as something people can't help but do, as if its this outside force of which those who parttake in it have no agency.

Suggestions for lessening impact as a gentrfier include: joining Tenant associations, starting TAs if possible, using your privilege to negotiate on behalf of your poorer neighbors (if you're educated, you can write a letter on behalf of a neighborhood who cannot write as well, asking the landlord to make repairs. if you have money or resources, connecting neighbors to legal services orgs or whatever good connections money gets you), learn about local rent laws + flyer your building reiterating them, dont call the fucking cops, shop local etc. etc.

anyway poking at this person for being a gentrifier carries more water than it seems IMO

Alright, so I'm kinda trying to piece things together cuz I didn't recognize her:

So this is Kamala's stepdaughter apparently. Okay, not a great sign, sure, but did she actually do or say anything bad besides looking kinda hipster-y?
