It's....checks notes.....Dave Anthony of The Dollop. Go to 1hr 31min.

He's calling for pitchforks and setting shit on fire basically. Are the libs alright?

About time tbh. 400,000 dead folks.

According to reddit the last half hour, with the monologue, was cut from platforms like Spotify and Overcast.

edit: didn't realise this came out 27 days ago. Just compared player.fm to soundcloud. It looks like on player.fm they cut the speech from 1.31 onwards, but then pasted in the last 3 seconds of the ep where Dave says "Oh well, we tried".

edit: dave is not a lib I was wrong. Someone with a twitter account should ask him how he feels about his fire speech being cut from major platforms.

edit: well this has been a trip. seems like the platforms didn't edit it, Dave did, after the Capitol happened. Because people wanted him to "stop being political", he says. Weird. I think he came under pressure tbh, whether from family, legal advisers, or the platform.

There's discussion on it here: https://reddit.com/r/TheDollop/comments/kszvjx/dave_and_gareths_discussion_at_the_end_of_lucy/

shitfuck. I am probably the lib then. Is the the last half an hour entirely normal for the pod in that case?

They only recently started going this hard

Yeah was kinda surprised to hear it on an ad supported pod. It's good.

I remember when they said "we try to not get political" then did a Trump episode, then kept going...now it's basically "see this shitty thing capitalists did to workers 100 years ago? Isn't it wild how that's STILL HAPPENING!" With the heavy implication that something should be done if you catch my drift. God I love that show. It radicalised my little sister and even my chud mother agrees with them lol.

so it seems like the major platforms are cropping the radical part of the pod you're talking about. I've edited the op.

Dave edited it because libs complained Dave was "ruining the show with politics" and he basically lost his shit and deleted it to shut them up. Hang on I'll find the link. He was not happy about it.

Thanks, so it wasn't the platforms editing it. He edited it himself. Better change the op again.

Yeah it seems weird for Dave to give in like that. I agree with your OP that he got pressure from somewhere. Especially given that the network they're on was sold to Spotify that same week. Doesn't seem like a coincidence.

There it is, probably. Dunno, he said in the speech (I took it as kind of a bit) that "My wife is a Doctor, I'n gonna be alright, maybe I should just dip out and think about baseball" so he's probably not that dependent on the pod income. Like I said, I dunno.

btw, seems like your posting from hospital? If so, top posting, o7, get out of there whenever you can. Had hiccups one time for a couple of hours, drove me crazy.

Yeah Dave Anthony can barely contain his desire to parody the bourgeoisie and seize the means of production and I've always enjoyed him trying to agitate revolution on the pod and not get his ad money pulled lol

    He's good folks.

Looks like the hardcore bit was cropped from the major platforms. The last half hour. As a general podcast appreciater, this seems like it should get more attention.

Pretty surprised I gotta admit. It seems they cut the speech, but included the last few joke defeatist seconds of the ep, on player.fm

Just when there's been some noise recently, since the capitol, about podcasts being an unnoticed vector for radicalization.

I am absolutely 1000% not engrained enough in Dave Anthony ideology to have an argument on this one way or the other but I have listened to like 4 episodes of the dollop and he literally calls himself a leftist in, without using the term, some kind of Marxist sense

I don't listen to it, tbh, so maybe am totally misrepresenting him. Just heard him guest on various pods. Kinda thought he was a leftist in the "Democrats are on the left" sense.

It's great that he's putting it out there.

Dave Anthony is a comrade. His Twitter is a great follow. Lots of libs (I'm guessing Dollop fans who don't realize the underlying metric of the show) wander in to wokescold him or challenge him on his takes and he just mercilessly bullies them. It never gets old. The Dollop's John Brown series would bring a tear to any chapo dot chat user's eye.

He co-hosts West Wing Thing, where he constantly talks vicious shit about Aaron Sorkin, the Democratic party, end-of-history mindset, liberalism in general, and capitalism as a whole. I've never listened to The Dollop but now I probably will

Is he still on Twitter? Idk, he blocked me because of that stupid baseball grand slam shit

But the point is, in late 2019 and early 2020 Dave was breathing Fire there, he was almost calling for people to be guillotined. He's a good guy and a good figurehead!

there is like 30 minutes of ad reads at the top of this thing. is this what normal podcasts are like?

Probably. I just kept skipping thru it in minute jumps. Then I just skipped to 1.31.

They intentionally front load the ads so it doesn't interrupt the podcast. Do 8 minutes of ads and loose bits then start the pod. That way people can just skip to when Dave screams the date without having to worry about skipping again later.

      Isn't it?

The fracking company taking the PPE loans, paying themselves a mill or whatever, and declaring bankruptcy the next day. Aaaargh.

That kind of shit has been going on in a lot of western countries. All the money going to small business tyrants, which means straight into their investment accounts, which means straight into tax havens.

I agree with his energy and most of the speech is good but there's a lot of irony in his holding up Belarus and Ukraine as examples. "I wonder why we don't have a domestic color revolution"
