I get hiccups at least once a day. At least. I have since I was a baby. I get them for no reason. I get them when I eat, drink, sneeze, cough...I sometimes wake up with hiccups. It is fine. They go away on their own.

None of the "cures" work on me and don't for most people with chronic hiccups. I've already tried this fucking "hiccaway" straw and it had no effect. Yet she is still trying to make me use the damn thing everytime my hiccups kick in because she doesn't seem to understand that I have literally had hiccups nearly everyday for my entire fucking life and they don't bother me. I get them constantly.

I know this is dumb and tedious but when you have severe stomach cramps that leave you gasping for breath and in total agony for hours at a time, having a nurse fuss about fucking hiccups is beyond fucking frustrating. Especially when you have them every fucking day and its literally not an issue

how does it feel knowing your life is literally a simpsons bit?

i'm sorry you're going through that. the nurse is probably at a complete loss as to do anything that can help you, so she's throwing the one solution she's seen work in the past.

You're probably right actually. I should be grateful she's at least trying and probably knows how frustrated I am here.

I get its a minor inconvenience and I feel whiney as hell for complaining but when the only help you're being offered is a plastic straw and a glass of water as a solution for something that doesn't bother you, while you spend afternoons burying your head into a pillow trying to make the pain stop, it gets a bit grating after a week.
