Or, to look at it another way, how much to stick with much of his original plan and risk a bloody partisan brawl for the next few years?

    What the actual fuck ?! don't the dems have control of both houses of congress on top of the white house ? who gives a flying fuck about a "partisan brawl" under these conditions ? just pass stuff and ignore the shouting.

      They're doing it through budget reconciliation, yes! I don't even get the point of this article! Biden already said "2009 was a mistake" for negotiating with Republicans just for them to say no anyway!

      Also, Republicans being the protagonists of the news, there's no mention that the Republicans do not actually have a counter offer. Their bill has no state/local funding and limits checks to sub-40k. That's not a real offer. That's bartering for a watch and offering the Easter Bunny.
