The whole "they're not killing white people" is a bit scoldy when the reason that they became so famous is that they were threatening to overthrow the Syrian state and were massacring Shia and Yazidis.
They're still around but they're hardly active to the same extent anymore.
I guess I must just have hallucinated when they were controlling territories with people numbering in the millions living in them and massacring thousands as a regular occurence.

They controlled a land area larger than Great Britain, for a while it looked like they were going to steamroll over both Syria and Iraq. I think you’re the one that’s misremembering things here.
