To me it seems that they want to seize on the well-established anti-communism within American society by drawing parallels between the GOP and the Bolsheviks.
Doesn't matter if there's any truth to these similarities or not as long as they invoke the fear red scare propaganda has instilled.

And also they generally want to keep people dumb and politically illiterate. Anything that confuses the poors is good.
