I thought it was called Cartoon Network. What happened?

That's a cable channel. CW is a broadcast network and the rebranding of the WB channel, although looking it up it's apparently been called "The CW" for longer than it was called "The WB" now, I just haven't really watched TV in 15 years apparently so all I remember are vague flashes of shitty TV shows and saturday morning cartoons with the "WB" watermark in the corner. I think maybe that was the channel the Pokemon dub started airing in the US on back in the late 90s? I really can't remember more than that by the time it rebranded there was nothing I was watching on it, or on TV in general.

Ok but what does WB stand for? Warner Brothers?

Yes, it was "The Warner Brothers Television Network," who owned it. Now it's apparently owned by a different subsidiary of Warner Brother's parent company.

Apparently it's an abbreviation of its two parent companies, CBS and WarnerMedia. I had to look it up again to find that out, because I didn't think it meant anything at all and was just some vapid branding thing (it is that too, and I can't think of "the CW" without thinking "that garbage channel that's trying too hard to sound hip when it is just the fucking worst").
