If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse, and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality. - Desmond Tutu

It really is that simple folks. Any both-sidesism, well-actualling, or fence-sitting as it relates to Israel and Palestine is simple moral cowardice. Anything less than full-throated support for Palestinian liberation and denunciation of Israel apartheid and murder is de facto support for Israel.

Liberals love to talk about nuance and how actually issues are very complex because they don't have principles; they have positions that can be changed at any moment according to their convenience. They pretend that not taking a stand is a sign of their intelligence, maturity and objectivity. In actuality they are as cowardly and vicious as the most rabid neocon. Their hands are drenched in blood.

Sorry, just had to vent. The last week has been a real blackpill for me, even as someone who lived through the hysteria of 9/11. Death to America. Death to Israel. Death to the West.

It's getting very annoying seeing even people who don't do this both sides-ing usually, to preemptively say "we condemn civilian casualities" and implying that Hamas is going around executing random people for no reason, which of course there is no evidence of. Like the Citations Needed guys just said that Hamas was killing children or something like that. Like wtf. Like the racism is so ingrained they see a militant Muslim organization and immediately go like "yeah they're probably evil baby killing maniacs".

Where are people even getting this stuff from, other than racist stereotypes that have been cultivated by Western media over the last century?

I truly feel like the left is just as dead in the mainstream as it was when Michael Moore got booed off stage at the Oscars in 2003. Any progress since then has been a mirage. We are fucking cooked

Too many people haven't killed their inner settler. When push comes to shove, they still hate an oppressed person who doesn't let their oppressor destroy them.

Nobody wants to do self work anymore!!

Seriously though. There is a kind of "leftist" that has the right opinions, but are basically brunch liberals. If it personally inconveniences them or they have to do any amount of research, they get as far as the propaganda and stop.

I admit. When this started happening, I only knew the cliffnotes version from a leftist perspective. I'm learning a lot over the last week. But personal growth isn't for everyone.

I love Citations Needed, but sometimes I feel like they are overly careful with the things they say in order to not scare away curious liberals.

I enjoy them as well, but I have always considered them "what NPR should actually be like".

        Show
        Show

Fuck Hasan for being so streamer brained he thinks that's a good idea. "Why don't I get this absolute dipshit reactionary comedian on to talk about Israeli genocide? That'll really bring in the views. Oh I'm so sad."

        Death to streamers also

in a sea of bad coverage, he's giving full-throated support for palestine. he was talking to the dipshit because they already have a show they do together weekly, and said dipshit wanted to talk about it. death to streamers, sure, but this is probably one of the most prominent english-language voices doing wall-to-wall coverage of israeli war crimes.

Watching the discourse get steered into the most pedantic corner is always so frustrating.

Israel has been occupying Palestine for 75 years, running a genocidal Apartheid fascist state. Gaza is just a concentration camp that gets bombed into rubble periodically. Over this time they've killed countless thousands of Palestinian children. But then I saw on TV Joe Brandon said 40 Israeli children were decapitated by those horrible Hamas guys, so I have no more sympathy. All dead children matter.

And now we all have to talk about this fucking tabloid ass story.

hasan's got the patience of a saint, literally started sobbing at one point over the overwhelming atrocities of the Israel state, and ethan is trying to both sides it, but has spent most of the time wanting to talk about dead babies.

No leftist podcast is going to have a good take because at the end of the day, they are all nerds that get paid 5X what I make to read the headlines and crack lame jokes. The amount of research they do first is basically non existent.
