Eh this is at least debatable.

If you just go by death count, sure, 9/11 is worse, but just looking at deaths is silly. With that method you'd think a bunch of battles from the Civil War, WWI, and WWII had more negative historical impact than 9/11. What makes 9/11 so bad isn't the death toll itself, but what it catalyzed in terms of a brand-new wave of imperialist aggression and the explosion of the domestic security state.

Similarly, what makes the capitol putsch so bad isn't the death toll itself, but what it will lead to. There's no way of knowing what it will lead to, but there are plausible answers that are at least comparable to the fallout of 9/11. It's certainly a big step in the wrong direction on the continuum of fascism, and it's easy to see how the response to it could be used to kneecap the budding leftist energy in the country.

In short, "invading the capitol as a joke was NOT ok."

Very well thought out and I completely agree with you.
If only that was what that dude meant, because I'm 100% sure he will be very much in favor of all the measures that will be taken after this.

Yeah, I'm giving this a generous spin that the guy almost certainly didn't intend. A "not totally unreasonable take for the wrong reasons" situation.
