I don't go on dates cause I don't like eating at restaurants. I would much rather cook my own food as at least I know what going into it. Also I do low carb and well, American restaurants. lol Not saying that it's impossible to do but... lol.
At any rate this first point means I will never have to worry about the others. So I can just live a reclusive, hateful life and die alone.
Yeah going out for special occasions is always fun when it's affordable, but home cooking, especially if you do it together is by far a better date experience, at least for me. It has multiple purposes really, and can be a fun teaching moment or just a fun moment just being shared with each other messing up the dinner or nailing it and being super proud. I'm also the type of person who likes doing picnics, a lot of my first few dates involves making something and bringing a bottle of wine to the park or somewhere scenic and just vibin at our pace. Restaurants serve their purpose though, but I cannot get down on going out constantly for it to be a "date" date.
For what it's worth most of my food related dates are cooking at my or their place. It was well received. First date should be something more casual than dinner/restaurant anyway. Second+ dates can be a bit more intensive, dinner at residence is fun. Music, food, maybe some drinks. Just have some activities in the pocket.
