      Does he need to be there for that? Like, Ted Cruz sucks, but it's because he sucks that I imagine he was also incapable of helping anyone. I won't go as far as Dinesh and say that him being in Cancun is helping anyone, but really I imagine a lot of Texans are happy he's staying away.

        Yeah, this is an example of a reasonable take ("Ted Cruz's personal involvement won't make that much of a difference") spun out to absurd ends ("ACKSHUALLY, Cancun is the best place for him to be and it's helping people, you ingrate").

        Senators and their Chiefs of Staff manage their offices and coordinate with the Federal government as liasons.

        In theory, you have an entire political chain of command gathering information from the community, siloing it, and distributing it to the agencies in order to best-inform various agencies.

        When Cruz picks up and goes on vacation, he takes all of his office resources with him.
