Hey Chapos, I was hoping for some help on a paper I need to write for my Energy and Politics class, prompt is What does the goal of net-zero carbon emissions in practice? What five measures would you propose for achieving net-zero by later this century?
Need some help finding some good articles to use, but any arguments I use have to remain fairly unbased, mostly just planning on dunking on the Paris Climate Agreement and whatnot.
Thanks U <3<3<3<3<3<3
Reduced consumption and waste could be one measure that seems pretty neutral.
What does the goal of net-zero carbon emissions in practice?
W...What? Is there a word missing? Maybe an 'entail' or something?
Anyways, I'd check out some recent reports by the IPCC, kinda dependent on what your line of argument is going to be - but you should find plenty of ammunition along the lines of 'what we're doing isn't nearly enough' in there.
Don't forget to dunk on carbon capture btw https://www.greenamerica.org/fight-dirty-energy/amazon-build-cleaner-cloud/coal-carbon-capture-and-storage-not-solution
Yeah the best carbon capture technology we have is trees. Low tech, and very effective at capturing carbon from the atmosphere lol.
- Train gang.
- Suppression of the bourgeois with the proletarian state.
- End planned obsolescence.
- Plant trillions and trillions of trees (for carbon sequestration). I believe that the fair way to do this is to bulldoze the ugly suburbs and plant trees over them, and then move those people into city blocks that are also going to need to be more efficiently designed. That way wildlife can repopulate where we fucked it up and what not.
- The obvious one, so I left it for last: renewables and being okay with not having things we’ve grown super accustom to always having because of capitalism.
